Touchdown, First Days in Brazil

After arriving in Sao Paulo airport early Tuesday morning, I boarded a bus for Campinas, the city nearby where I will be spending most of my time this summer. It is winter here, but the weather is still quite warm (60-75 F). Unfortunately, the days are short so by the time I get home from work it's mostly dark. Thus, I haven't yet had time to explore the neighborhood.

Above is a picture of my humble abode here in Campinas, one room in a house of about 20 - mostly students at the state university nearby.

Work is a good 10 miles away, but there are buses that connect the area where I am living to the area where Edumed, the organization I am working for, is. The past few days, however, I've gotten picked up on a motorcycle by the institute's driver, Tiago. I had a meeting with the director, Dr. Sabbatini yesterday to discuss my involvement, and I can't wait to really get started.
